Onslaught is a video game I am making. It is based on an Idea for a video game Me and a friend created. I will call this friend Hitman213 from now on. We were gonna give this idea to a company to make and we almost did.
Our video game Idea went through a phase where it got a lot more serious in 1998-2000. It was originally planned to be a duke3d style shooter with one liners and lots of gut explosions and gross deaths. The change Started with the name change of the villain, the dark one. The dark one’s real name originally was going to be DR Choppa Shlonghoff. I changed it to Damian Ichabod because I didn’t like the original name.
Around that time even more weapon ideas were thought of by me…
-Asteroid Attractor – a gun that attracts small asteroids to earth. Secondary fire attracts giant mile wide instadeath asteroids.
-Tsunami Gun – creates a tsunami when fired at the water/coast. Secondary fire created a Mega Tsunami (get your surfboards ready!)
-Spread Rifle – This was a gun that fired a spread of bullets from angled barrels. This was the only gun to make it to the final game from this phase.
-Overkill Cannon – Similar to the spread rifle but more powerful.
-Earthquake Gun – Creates earthquakes.
-Lighting Rod – similar to the quake lighting gun.
I planned in my head what the world should look like… This was important. We needed an idea to give the company, telling them how to make the world look right… We wanted a post apocalyptic, Futurescape. It had to look futuristic and ruined at the same time.
We also wanted tons of nuclear waste to be everywhere. The cities were bombed by the cult villains, so it should look irradiated. We wanted pools of nuclear waste all over the ground and stepping in them hurt you.
I wanted post apocalyptic weather as well. I wanted Ice and Fire Tornadoes, specifically. Tornadoes of pure ice and fire. These weather features would kill the player, so they would have to get inside to avoid them.
Around that time A design Document was actually started. It was a gigantic Microsoft Works Document made around 1996-1997. It had all our ideas put together and went into little details like going into what the menus should look like and what the skill settings were named. One skill was called Rabid Dog. That’s the only one I remember now… It’s been a while.. This thing had a few guns at first but soon got tons more put in including the above mentioned new ones…
Enter my Brother. He was helping us get the document to be official. He was going to present it to the gaming company and make it really well written, fix grammar issues, spelling ,etc. He was there from the get go to the end in 2002…
Around then some story elements were being thought out. Level progression ideas were getting into my head… Some levels were now going to be taking place in space, including the first level, where your job was to escape from a space station that functions as a Prison, where Bastard was put there by the CSC for being a deviant. Later on you made your way to a space station with a mad AI with nuclear weapons under it’s control. You had to stop this AI. But later on this AI would actually evolve into something far more stupid and funny at the same time – the insane character Deltree.
